ExchangeHomes.com recently conducted an email survey of our Senior Members - that is, members who confess to being 55 or older.

The results of that survey are documented below, and we found them to be immensely interesting. We were also touched by the number of kind remarks many of the members added at the end of their survey.

ExchangeHomes.com Senior Members who have already made at least one home exchange/home swap responded as follows:

Level of Satisfaction

  • 80% were more than satisfied
  • 20% were satisfied

Number of Exchanges

  • 45% had made more than one exchange
  • 22% had made more than three exchanges
  • 5% had made more than five exchanges

Length of Exchange

  • 19% were for one month or more
  • 71% were for between two weeks and one month
  • 10% were for less than two weeks
  • 35% also participated in weekend exchanges

Exchange Partners

  • 58% exchanged with other seniors
  • 26% exchanged with non-seniors with no children
  • 16% exchanged with families with children

Money Saved

  • 6% estimated they had saved more than $3,000
  • 18% estimated they had saved between $2,000 and $3,000
  • 45% estimated they had saved between $1,000 and $2,000
  • 31% estimated they had saved between $500 and $1,000

Miscellaneous

  • 60% of exchanges included a car
  • 2% of exchanges included an RV
  • 2% of exchanges included a boat
  • 35% of exchanges included looking after a partner’s pets
  • 100% stated they plan more home exchanges/home swaps in the future
